Studying environmental sciences and policy at VCU will take you far beyond the classroom. Our students benefit from a strong academic and research base, and work alongside experts in the field — from lab studies at the Rice Rivers Center to internships with Fortune 500 businesses — all located in a capital city that’s known for its friendly, diverse culture and opportunities.
Our curriculum integrates environmental disciplines with outside studies like business and policy that are crucial for real-world solutions. We take pride in preparing graduates with a foundation in the sciences, familiarity with emerging technologies, and the savvy to contribute to any team of researchers and professionals.
The Center for Environmental Studies offers an undergraduate program, a minor and two graduate programs.
New and transfer students
High school seniors and transfer students should follow the VCU admissions process and clearly indicate in their application that they wish to apply to the environmental studies program.
Visit the VCU Graduate School website to apply for one of our master’s programs.
Opportunities for doctoral study are provided through the Ph.D. in Integrative Life Sciences program.
A minor in environmental studies combined with a related major is useful to students planning careers that involve environmental processes and problems. It’s also a great way to prepare for the graduate program.
